Are you stressed out because of something you forgot to put on your Tax returns? Maybe you haven’t filed your tax returns at all?
The Voluntary Disclosures Program (VDP) is a second chance for you to correct a previously filed tax return, or to file a return that should have been filed BEFORE the CRA takes action against you. The VDP lets you come forward without financial penalties or the risk of criminal prosecution, so you don’t have to spend your time looking over your shoulder about the past and you can focus on your future.
The VDP ensures fairness and is designed to help people come forward and get their tax affairs right.
Anyone that can benefit from the VDP is usually eligible. However, in order to be able to take advantage of this program, at the time of applying under the VDP you must not be aware of an audit or other investigation that may uncover inaccuracies in your previous filings.
There are two streams of the VDP to correct your tax filings. The two streams are the Income Tax Stream and the GST/HST stream.
If you’re interested in the VDP to correct past errors or omissions in your previous tax filings, or need to file previously unfiled returns, please contact Invictus LLP to ensure your disclosure to the CRA is handled correctly and you maintain solicitor-client privilege.
